2020 February Public Minutes

The meeting of the Avenel Board of Fire Commissioners District #5 took place at the Avenel Firehouse on February 27, 2020 at 8:13 p.m.  The meeting was called to order by President Dean Manente followed by a moment of silence for the departed members.

Commissioners present: Comm. Dean Manente, Comm. Mitch, Comm. Bruce Mizak, Comm. Keith Addie, Comm. Greg Czoch, and Board attorney Eric Lange,

Notice of this meeting for the Fire Commissioners Fire District #5, Avenel-Colonia, Woodbridge Township, New Jersey was advertised in the Home News Tribune and Star Ledger, posted on the bulletin board at the firehouse and filed with the clerk of the Board.

A motion was made by Commissioner Mizak seconded by Commissioner Czoch to accept the minutes of January’s regular meeting with correction made to the Resolutions and the Budget Workshop to dispense with the reading of the minutes and place a copy into record.  Motion passed by those present.

• Election result letter with amount to be raised by taxation has been sent out.

Treasurer’s Report:

The Treasurers’ Report was read by Commissioner Czoch.  The total fund balance for the month of January is $2,678,512.81.  Motion was made by Commissioner Mitch, seconded by Commissioner Mizak to accept the Treasurers’ Report.  A roll call vote was taken with all Commissioners present voting in favor

Communications:

Bills:

The total bills for the month of February are $158,744.03. Motion was made by Commissioner Mizak seconded by Commissioner Czoch to accept all communications and pay all bills with a check to be corrected.  A roll call vote was taken with all Commissioners present voting in favor.

• Eight (8) Resolutions for Avenel Board of Fire Commissioners to appoint 8 individuals for Career Firefighter positions. 1. Joseph Pickard, 2. Thomas Barry, 4. Jaspreet Singh, 5. Anthony Cosentino, 6. Arthur Nebus III, 7. Daniel Mizak and 8. Frank Nadjavestky.

 

Commissioner Mitch made a motion to open the public meeting, seconded by Commissioner Czoch.

Public:

Chief Elbayar is present as the public. Asked questions about the new shifts for the career firefighters and if they are Firefighter I certified.
