·         Received $1967.00 Fire Zone reimbursement. Numerous months,

·         Received $3,038.50 Fire zone reimbursement. November/December 2023. Holiday overtime period total - $5005.50.

·         Received $67.10 in overtime reimbursement for off-hour permit inspection.

·         5-3-8 and 5-3-9 registered for Youth Fire setter seminar in Princeton on 5/8. Details Mercer County program which is top notch.

·         Attended 1 Fire Prevention Demonstration – Big Wheels Day Along with that, the Township thanked us for attending.

         Made some changes to the Commercial policy.

·         The boat left the firehouse yesterday, will be used in the landscape for the Tiki Bar at Sewaren waterfront.

·         Chris Branna passed away. E will now be dealing with Stephanie Branna.

·          The floors were stripped and waxed in the hall in February. Will have this done every 4-6 months.

·         Fire Company is looking to do a team building event.

 

KEITH ADDIE SECRETARY

 

·         Working with Cory for the new tablets.

·         Radios in old Fire Prevention vehicles. Fire Official would like them installed in the new vehicles.

 

BRUCE MIZAK, 1st VICE PRESIDENT

 

·         Chris’s vehicle had taillight and bumper changed.

·          Grant for $46,000 received. We can only purchase certain things with this money.

·         Rental gear for Nebus and Colon.

·         Lith – X fire extinguisher distributor in Baltimore and Missouri.

·         Absolute came out to repair 5-1 discharge that was leaking.

·         Engine 5-2 had a drip underneath; it was a cylinder under the cab that was leaking

 

 

GREGORY CZOCH, TREASURER

·         Spoke to Mike Klepchick about the dorm room. It will go out for bids.

·         Issue with the water heater at 105 Avenel St.

·         Leak in the basement at 105 Avenel St.

·         Air & Gas came out for the cascade system.

·         Firehouse women’s bathroom had a leak repaired in one of the toilets.

·         Received $1967.00 from the Township – Fire Zone reimbursement, January/February 2024.

·         5-3-8 will be out of town until 4/08/2024.

·         Township Officers – Woodbridge Fire Dept. has established a mayday protocol.

·         The next 2 drills will be live burns and have been scheduled.

·         CAD in 5-3-1 has been repaired.

 

CAPT. DAN MIZAK

Would like to change the pre- plan moving to mobilized.

Capt. Adam Karlin and Firefighter Arthur Nebus still must complete a training course.

Firefighter Fritz and Firefighter Finley took the I300.

5-1 and 5-4 hose bed need covers.

Forcible entry training.

Firefighter Fritz had an issue with pants from Turnout.

2024 January Agenda Minutes

The meeting of the Avenel Board of Fire Commissioners District #5 took place at the Avenel Firehouse on January 25, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Dean Manenete followed by a moment of silence for the departed members.

Commissioners present: Comm. Dean Manente, Comm. Bruce Mizak, Comm. John Mitch, Comm. Greg Czoch, Comm. Keith Addie, Board Clerk Melissa, and Board attorney Eric Lange.

Notice of this meeting for the Fire Commissioners Fire District #5, Avenel-Colonia, Woodbridge Township, New Jersey was advertised in the Home News Tribune and Star Ledger, posted on the bulletin board at the firehouse and filed with the clerk of the Board.

A motion was made by Commissioner Mizak seconded by Commissioner Addie to accept the minutes for December’s regular meeting and the Budget Workshop to dispense with the reading of the minutes and place a copy into record. Motion passed by those present.

Treasurer’s Report:

The Treasurers’ Report was read by Commissioner Czoch. The total fund balance for the month of December was $1,212,109.99. Motion was made by Commissioner Mitch, seconded by Commissioner Mizak to accept the Treasurers’ Report.  A roll call vote was taken with all Commissioners present voting in favor.

The total bills for the month of January are $188,294.29. Motion was made by Commissioner Mizak seconded by Commissioner Czoch to accept all bills and pay bills. A roll call vote was taken with all Commissioners present voting in favor.
